I’ve loved these cricket articles! Thanks for your reporting on these :) I’ve even gotten my parents to watch a few matches!

I also hadn’t even thought about the US qualifying for the next World Cup!

And Im really sorry to be pedantic, but since cricket likes to make weird rules, my understanding is the U.S. would have played in this group even if they’d finished top in their group as they just took Pakistan’s “pre-assigned” spot. Just a small taste of cricket’s unnecessary confusing rules 😂

I was sceptical about the T20 WC being partly held in the US but I think it has turned out really well for the game. Really pleased, also, for the success of the USA team - it could hardly have gone better.

And it was lovely reading your reports and comments.

One slight correction, the bizarre way the groups to super 8s is done means that even if the US won the group it would end up in the same groups. Teams are assigned the group based on world ranking and the US took Pakistan’s world ranking, which is behind India’s, so even if they won the group they would have finished second. Also India no matter where they finish know which venue they’ll play their semi final at which is a decent advantage.

As another example of this England were slotted as group winners despite Australia winning the group.

I am in the presence of perennial cricket expert Rodger Sherman🙇‍♂️

All jokes aside, great cricket articles despite the fact that I know nothing about the sport😅

I have no idea how cricket works, but I'm in for the long haul with you Rodge!

Like many Americans, the win over Pakistan really opened my eyes to the fact that we even have an international team. Now, we're riding the Cinderella high of still somehow being alive in the World Cup. Hopefully the run doesn't die out too quickly
