OK, one of them is only 39. Also, cricket's biggest star finally wins his first league championship, a million-dollar arm runs out of gas, and Tom Thibodeau's combover.
My favorite sports thing of the week was Sinner-Alcaraz because of basically everything about sets 3-5.
But my next favorite was that it was the opening weekend of AUSL! I so badly want organized pro softball in the US to work, and the kind of backing AUSL has gotten gives it the best shot any league has had, I think. I've decided to be a Talons fan.
I was a diehard Knicks fan for about 20 years until I finally decided to quit. The Porzingis trade was the dealbreaker for me, though really it could have been a dozen other things. Sports fans always have to do a delicate dance between tribal loyalty and the reality that such sentiment also serves to enrich some odious billionaire. For me, Dolan at some point simply became too odious, one of the worst in a city full of awful rich people. I swore I wouldn't come back while he was still owner, and I'm sticking with that.
Thankfully, as a Packers fan, I don't have the same problem with football.
Sara Errani won TWO French open titles this past week--Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. At 38 years old.
And she's just... playing a major padel tournament this week? For reasons??
Damn, another horse won Belmont? This is getting ridiculous. Tough stretch for us non equines.
I too am a big fan of doubles tennis, and one of my favourite players is the Mexican Santiago Gonzalez, still playing at the age of 42.

"A rematch of the 2019 NBA Draft" FLOORED me
Thanks for being internet’s biggest doubles fan. We need more like you
