Rodg, what do we have to do to get high level curling broadcasted here in the States? It’s been 3 years since ESPN stopped broadcasting the TSN feed of the Scottties/Brier (a simple flip of a switch could easily transmit it back to ESPN+ but I digress). Curling is constantly one of the most viewed Olympic events and there is clearly the desire for curlers and non-curlers to watch it.
Plus, consider this a formal invite to throw some rocks. Let’s get you on the ice.
Peacock carried the US mixed doubles championships for round-robin play. CNBC carried the playoffs. No US outlet is carrying the Scotties/Brier (Canadian championships that are arguably more competitive than the Olympics), but there are ways to find the streams. No clue who, if anyone in the US, is carrying the worlds.
Curling Channel doesn't list any blackouts for the US, so I don't think anyone here is carrying worlds. The subscription from them for women's + men's + juniors + mixed doubles isn't cheap, but it's not the worst.
No one carrying the Scotties/Brier *and* TSN and Curling Canada no longer making livestreams available internationally has definitely decreased how much I've watched this year. :/
The trend from international sports like these being included in some larger package (ESPN+, Peacock, deep cable channels) to being a thing you have to pay a sport-specific subscription for, really stinks
Curling! Curling! Curling! I'm super excited for Korey D. He grew up at my home club and I know his family. I'm thrilled you are reporting on curling! The world needs more curling coverage!
A “big win for sharing a last name with your teammate” vs. “sharing a first name with your teammate.” - as someone who'll enter tournaments this year with his father, for the first time in 40 years, I hope to add to that win column.
Sports thing that will stand out for me from this past week: Maxim Naumov kneeling at center ice in DC after skating to his parents' favorite song in their memory. Just... oh god, Max.
(Yebin Mok leading all the skaters in a piece based on the skating skills workshop she taught for the kids at dev camp really hit me, too.)
Well my high school is having zones with double elimination style to see who goes to provincials. Imagine if conference tournaments determined who made the ncaa sorry auburn great year but you got upset early in the sec tournament your year is over because your conference has 11 bids but you got 12

Let’s do this. North Central Massachusetts is lovely this time of year.
