Don’t let the Black Bears get hot. Next year they’re getting Cooper Flagg’s brother, Ace.
I may be secretly holding out hope that cooper foregoes the NBA draft, enters the portal and signs with his home state’s flagship university to play a year of college ball with his brother.
"The Black Bears have now made their first-ever conference championship game."
Maine's actually 0-4 in conference title games. Got waxed in Burlington in 2004 (and killed that guy's grandpa). Despite going 10-17 in the 2001-02 regular season an upset over pre-juggernaut Vermont in the semis earned a shellacking at Boston U. Malik Rose's Drexel won by 8 in 1994 over a pretty good Maine team. And a 13-17 Maine team lost to Northeastern in 1991.
Great write up. No one beats the Black Bears 31 times in a row! It was a decent sized upset, but their 2 regular season games were only 4 and 5 point Vermont wins and UVM was down their all conference PG last night, so as a UVM fan I wasn't entirely shocked by the outcome. I'll be cheering on the Black Bears on Saturday to finally get that wikipedia box / NCAA bid.

The Black Bears are traditionally a hockey school! Two championships, three runners-up, 11 frozen fours, 18 tournament appearances. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_Black_Bears_men%27s_ice_hockey
Go Black Bears basketball!
