Thursday night, the Chargers made history by converting on a play that hadn't been successful in FORTY EIGHT YEARS
Was desperately waiting to read this story immediately after I saw that this happened (angry that I missed it live)
Cottonwood High in Utah attempted it successfully three years ago. I’d know; I was the reporter who covered the game.
Rodger, you need to warn us if some of your links are going to Bluesky… many of us don’t want the pedo website in our browser history.

Awesome story love the footnotes
Can't wait for Belichek to plead for this rule to be reinstated in CFB for 2025 and have him revel in joy about it.
Great stuff! As an Aussie Eagles fan addicted to the NFL I also enjoyed the Aussie Rules Football references! Outstanding work!
I’m so happy that this finally happened for you!
Great article but two points on Gaelic Football:
1. It doesn’t descend from rugby, they have a few similarities (but very few overall really) but they developed separately
2. There is a mark that was only brought in in the last 10 years or so but it’s being amended due to controversy about it slowing the game down
Maybe what Terry meant was "they can't rush the kicker to try to block it". Otherwise its just a kickoff, no reason the receiving team can't touch it after it is kicked.
Terry said a missed kick was returnable. So, Rodger, your next wish can be a missed Fair-Catch kick thats returned for a TD
