Of all the things I learned about this week, the most unexpected was "a team was recently created in the United States that uses the moniker Indians, and it's entirely appropriate and not at all problematic." Progress!

The futures league in New England does home run derbys to end games tied after the 10th! It’s great.

Putintseva and Swiatek have played each other 5 times, and Putintseva has only one win... at Wimbledon 2024.

On another tennis note, the mixed doubles final was probably my favorite match I watched all fortnight! Ahem, US Open.

Sports things I'm looking forward to: Classics in US women's artistic gym this weekend, Fencing Worlds next week

I’d be far more impressed if they finished with a bunting contest. Paint an area in the infield near the 1st and 3rd base lines, and the 1st team to lay down 3 bunts within those areas wins. I’m so sick of the home run emphasis in baseball I could puke. Lineups with 4-5 guys hitting less than .200? What are we even doing?

I must say that I respect Mumbai Indians New York for fully embracing who they are. As opposed to NYCFC who refuses to openly admit that they are Manchester City New York. Lol

I would resist Chicago even in summer because an ex went to UC Law and worked as a prosecutor there but said the whole time there was a part of her spine that was always cold. It just gets cold there.
